A. Dale McCracken
Allen Dale McCracken of Liberty, Missouri, age 88, passed away on December 20, 2014. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Allen, known as Dale, was born May 30, 1926 in Cuba, Kans., to parents John and Mabel McCracken. Dale had four siblings, Virginia, Paul, John and Jeanette. He married to Dolores McCracken on July 7, 1951.
Dale enlisted in Army Air Corp at 17 years of age, serving from 1943 - 1945. After discharge, he attended college in Ames, Iowa. In 1951, employed by TWA as an electrical mechanic, Lockheed Constellation flight engineer, Boeing 727 First Officer, Senior Flight Engineer, retired 1983.
Dale continued his interest in aviation, with building and flying remote control aircraft with family and friends, as well as competitive sailboat racing. He was always cooking something that may or may not be considered edible. He was known for a great sense of humor and was always wearing a smile. Dale was also a very dedicated grandfather to 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with three on the way. Dale was always willing to listen and provide advice, whether it was needed or not.
Dale is survived by his wife, Dolores; five sons, Garry (Marie), Larry (Renita), Patric (Teresa), Timothy (Susan), and Joseph (Kenna); 13 grandchildren, Ryan (Cheyenna), Patricia (Thomas Mendel), Chad (Emily), Paul (Lara), Christopher (Ann-Marie), Kyle (Emily), Tyler (Whitney), Melissa, Allen Joseph, Kylie, Nicholas, Noah and Averi; five great-grandchildren, Parker, Paige, Ruby, Molly and LilyAnn; three siblings, Paul, John and Jeanette; his dog, Maggie, and his parrot, Oscar.
Dale is preceded in death by one grandchild, Craig, and one sibling, Virginia.
A family only service will be held December 29, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, in Kearney, Mo. A visitation for family and friends will follow from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the leukemia and lymphoma society.
